Dulux announced their selection of Colour of the Year 2018 last September; a combination of dusky mauve and smoky taupe dubbed Heart Wood. The name of this shade really captures the spirit behind the selection of this year\u2019s colour; warmth, naturality, comfort and safety.<\/span><\/p>\n

This year\u2019s choices follow the theme of \u201cA Welcome Home\u201d; the idea of turning the place we live<\/span> into a haven from the busy world outside, a refuge we can escape to that is truly ours. Featured in the palette revealed by Dulux are ten colours; Pink Parchment; Blossom Tree; Woven Willow; Fallen Burr; Rose Bark; Blackberry Bush; Wooded Solace; Sapphire Salute; Pine Cone; and finally Heart Wood itself. <\/span><\/p>\n

These shades highlight the current trend for gaining inspiration from nature; warmth, comfort and security are also prominent motifs. Dulux say the palette and its headliner Heart Wood were \u201dinspired by the beautifully warm wooden materials we see being used in all kinds of interior decorating and architecture. A variety of woods are growing in popularity, but we see a tendency towards warmer, light and dark shades of red, alongside violet and pinkish woods. The warmth of wood reflects the comfort that we need in these uncertain times \u2013 this material is an essential element for creating the welcoming environments we desire.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n
